Why calendars remain so popular – even in the digital age

If you have you ever wondered why printed calendars continue to be so popular, even in today’s world that is dominated more and more by digital devices, hand held organisers and anything else electronic?

There are several good reasons. The recent BBC News Magazine article ‘Why do we still buy calendars?’ explores a few and has received some great comments from readers as a result. Although written largely from a consumer perspective, the facts about calendars’ continuing popularity highlighted by both the article and the comments can just as easily – if not more so – be applied to promotional advertising calendars.

Well worth a read from our perspective. As are our customers’ testimonials, which can either be read on our testimonials page or watched on our new video page.

We’d love to hear your views. Do you buy calendars, either as a personal present for Christmas or as a promotional tool for your business? If so, what is your main reason for doing so?

You might have heard Chris Evans talk about calendars a lot this week on his BBC2 breakfast show. Nice to hear Cliff Richard is still making a calendar, how good does he look for his age? We love Chris’ idea of a ‘Muddy Dogs’ calendar – whatever next!?

We have enjoyed the show this week and have sent Chris a copy of our funny business calendar Guinea Pig Games, in the hope he might like it enough to featue it on his show.

Guinea Pig Games is the perfect advertising tool for any business for promoting their services or products during the upcoming Olympic year in a humorous way and it’s proved a really popular calendar choice for 2012 already. Have you had a look at it? Please contact us if you’d like to receive a sample.

And if you hear our promotional calendars mentioned by Chris, please let us know!

CALENDARS and DIARIES

Where would you be without them!?

Every day they brighten your wall remind you of important dates upcoming events and if you are lucky your holidays!!

On to a more serious note the recession is obviously hurting most companies very few are immune.

Those of you who know me are aware of the fact like yourselves this is not the first one and more likely than not will not be the last!

Everyone would I am sure have come across the “Recession what recession!” boy’s/gal’s usually making there way telling people how to
sell their products!?

I hope not to come across like that!! Having sailed through the storms myself!!!

Hopefully the fact that I came through myself says a lot about the value of Calendars and diaries.

“One of the first things firms cut back on” so I am told occasionally usually by a visit to a company with dead phones (from customers not buying!) and the atmosphere of a closing down sale.

Why is it the next call can be a company in the same line of work but is busy?

Could it be that they are presenting a calendar diary appropriate to their customers needs/likes? Not only that but calling on them making sure its on the wall using it to create warm discussion, moving on to selling their products.

Why are my customers operating like this doing well? Some offer a pen a jotting or desk pad why not?

Look at it like this? If you were in a pub talking to a client would a pint of beer at £3.00 be out of the question would a sandwich at £5/6? Of course not now think that is enough to cover the cost of a calendar and diary which lasts a lot longer than a pint!!

It is also in and part of his/her’s daily life.

You know it makes sense?!?

Get in there!

Ian.

Breaking news in the world of motorsport: two-time world champion Alonso has just extended his contract with constructor Ferrari for a further five seasons.

Having come onboard with the Italians last year, and although originally only signed up until 2012, Alonso’s new contract means he will now be with Ferrari until at least the 2016 season. In an interview he said he felt “happy and privileged” to be staying with his “second family” for the foreseeable future and that he has no doubts he will end up “finishing his F1 career in this relationship”.

We hope that our British drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, make equally strategic moves as they battle global competition from Germany’s Sebastian Vettel as well as Australian Mark Webber and Spaniard Alonso.

The next race on the F1 calendar is Alonso’s home run in Catalunya on Sunday 22nd May, where he will no doubt receive a warm welcome. Can he make it a home victory, though?

Whoever wins this year’s drivers championship will probably be featured in our next Motor Sport calendar – an impressive advertising tool, not just for F1 fans.
